JTWC issued the first advisory on FITOW at 2007/08/28 18 UTC. FITOW has travelled NE to NNE for quite a long distance before it attained tropical depression strength. It then strengthened rapidly into a 35-knot tropical storm at 00 UTC's advisory, and eventually to a 50-knot severe tropical storm now. As of 06 UTC, FITOW was centred 2230 km (1200 NM) southeast of Tokyo, Japan.
