A tropical disturbance drifted west across southern Philippines in the past few days and has now strengthened to tropical storm status, which was given the temporary number 26W and was named NOUL. At 20 HKT, NOUL was centred about 780 km (420 NM) E of Ho Chi Minh City.
A strengthening anticyclone near Thailand will drive NOUL to its southern periphery, and thus a westward movement with slight southward dip is expected in the next 72 hours.
