There are two centres in the subtropical ridge east of SANBA, one to the east of Japan and the other west of Guam. Influence from the lower segment resulted in SANBA's poleward movement in the past 24 hours. SANBA is expected to move NNW turning to N as it moves north and starts to be affected by the upper centre.

三巴以東的副熱帶高壓脊有兩個中心，較高緯度的一個於日本以東，而較低的則於關島以西。南面的部分令三巴於過去 24 小時大致向偏北方向移動。隨著三巴北移，它將開始受北面的中心影響，而向西北偏北轉北移動。

The explosive intensification resulted in an extremely thick layer of clouds in SANBA's central dense overcast, with cloud top temperatures reaching -80 degrees Celsius. The eye is well-defined and devoid of clouds. However cloud top temperatures appear to have risen in the past 6 hours, indicating possible weakening trend. SANBA has reached the maximum tolerable intensity and is expected to weaken gradually as it moves north. Weakening will become more rapid later on when SANBA enters a region of lower sea temperatures.

The system is in an area with good outflow, weak vertical wind shear and high sea temperatures. SANBA is travelling more westward than expected as a result of the influence from the ridge near Taiwan. That ridge will gradually weaken and the subtropical ridge east of the system, still N-S oriented, will drive SANBA towards the NNW.

The subtropical ridge is currently N-S oriented and situated to the northeast of SANBA. Another ridge is seen near Taiwan, with a huge weakness in between. SANBA is expected to track NNW along the subtropical ridge through the weakness in the forecast period.

副熱帶高壓脊呈南北向並處於三巴東北，而台灣附近亦有一脊場，兩者間有一巨大弱點。預料三巴將於預測期內向西北偏北移動，通過該弱點。
