Although sea temperatures are high, there is substantial vertical wind shear at VAMCO's current location. Since VAMCO will make landfall soon, it is not expected to intensify significantly before landfall, and rapid weakening should follow.
VAMCO is enhancing the northeast monsoon currently affecting southern China. Because of VAMCO's location, the Cuming effect is possible and could lead to rainy weather in the next few days due to the lifting of the southeasterly wind in VAMCO's northeastern quadrant.
