Information about the transit 是次凌日資料

Transit of Venus is a periodic but rare astronomical phenomenon that occurs when Venus is directly between the Sun and Earth. The separation within a pair of transits is around 8 years, but separation between pairs alternates between 121.5 and 105.5 years. The coming transit of Venus is the second of a pair, the first of which occurred on June 8, 2004. There will be no more transits of Venus in this century.

The times of the transit are more or less the same across the globe. Weather permitting, everywhere on Earth such that the Sun is above horizon during that time frame can view this event. The Venus will appear as a dot on the solar disk, the size of which is around 1/30 of the angular diameter of the Sun. Global visibility of the transit is listed as follows.

金星凌日是一週期性但較為罕見的天文現象,於金星處於地球及太陽之間的時候發生。在一對金星凌日中,兩次事件時間相隔 8 年,但兩對間的間距則梅花間竹地為 121.5 及 105.5 年。本年 6 月 5/6 日的金星凌日為一對中的第二次;上一次於 2004 年 6 月 8 日發生。今次之後,本世紀將不再出現金星凌日。

Local (HK) circumstances 本地 (香港) 情況

It is very fortunate that, for Hong Kong, both transits in 2004 and 2012 occur when the Sun is above the horizon. The coming transit will be visible in its entirety if weather permits. The Sun rises at 05:39 HKT on June 6, and Venus will start to enter the solar disk at 06:12 HKT. The planet will cross the solar disk during that morning, and will leave at around 12:49 HKT. Ingress can only be seen at places not obscured to the ENE, but for the most part of the transit it will be very accessible to observers since the Sun will be high in the sky. Near the end of the transit, the Sun will almost be overhead so that it is virtually visible in any outdoor location.

Since the Sun is extremely bright during the transit, observers must use appropriate solar filters [details].

本世紀兩次金星凌日都幸運地於香港可見。如天氣許可,香港將可見是次凌日的整個過程。本港於 6 月 6 日的日出時間為上午 5 時 39 分,而金星則於 6 時 12 分開始進入太陽圓盤。在整個上午金星將逐步橫過太陽,並於約下午 12 時 49 分離開。由於凌日初時太陽仰角頗低,該部分只可於東北偏東面沒有阻擋的地方可見。但是,凌日期間太陽高度角將逐漸上升,觀測者將很容易見到其大部分過程。接近凌日尾聲,太陽將非常接近天頂,因此幾乎所有戶外地方也可看到。

Future transits of inferior planets 未來內行星凌日

Transits of Venus will not recur this century, but the more common transit of Mercury will next occur in 2016. However, the next transit of Mercury visible in Hong Kong will not take place until 2032

金星凌日將不會於本世紀再出現,至於較常見的水星凌日則會於 2016 年重臨,但香港不可見。下一次香港可見的水星凌日將於 2032 年發生。
