| Information about the eclipse 是次日食資料 |
Following the annular solar eclipse last October, a total solar eclipse will take place again in North America on April 8 local time (April 9 Hong Kong Time). The moon's umbra will reach Earth near 16:40 UTC (00:40 HKT) in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. After a brief period of movement towards the east, the umbral path will turn northeast and the moon's shadow will reach Mexico just after 18:00 UTC (02:00 HKT). It will cross Mexico and enter the US near 18:30 UTC (02:30 HKT). The umbral path will cross several US states; the track turns east-northeast as it reaches southern Canada near Toronto and Montreal, and enters the Atlantic Ocean after 19:45 UTC (03:45 HKT). The final moments of the eclipse will see the umbra move eastwards, lifting off the Earth's surface before 20:00 UTC (04:00 HKT) and just missing the western European coast.
A partial eclipse is visible in most of the North and Central American countries, Greenland, Iceland, and Svalbard. It is also visible in Ireland and western UK just before the sun sets.
繼去年 10 月的日環食，北美洲將於當地時間 4 月 8 日 (香港時間為 4 月 9 日) 迎來一次日全食。當天，月球的本影將於世界協調時約 16:40 (香港時間 00:40) 到達太平洋中部。東移一段短距離後，全食帶將轉向東北，月影會於世界協調時 18:00 (香港時間 02:00) 過後抵達墨西哥，橫過該國後於世界協調時約 18:30 (香港時間 02:30) 進入美國。全食帶將橫過美國多洲，路徑將於到達加拿大南部近多倫多及蒙特利爾一帶時轉向東北偏東，並於世界協調時 19:45 (香港時間 03:45) 後進入大西洋。至日食末段，月球本影將會東移，於世界協調時 20:00 (香港時間 04:00) 前離開地球，剛好未能到達歐洲西部。
是次日食中，北美及中美洲大部份國家、格陵蘭、冰島及挪威斯瓦巴群島可見日偏食，而愛爾蘭及英國僅能於日落前不久看到。
